Let’s flip the script and talk about what not to do— and move past the “it depends…”Let’s flip the script and explore what not to do, moving beyond the “it depends…” In this interactive, game-show-style workshop, we’ll put your ethical decision-making to the test. After reviewing foundational frameworks like Demand Control Schema and the Role Space Model, the buzzer sounds and you’ll team up with colleagues to tackle real-world ethical dilemmas, brainstorm solutions, and examine the “why” behind our professional boundaries and ethics. Step into the hot seat for an interactive workshop exploring effective mentorship in sign language interpreting. We’ll unpack the mentor-mentee relationship through research, professional practice, and lived experience, examining roles, boundaries, skills, and the
impact of gatekeeping and ableism in the field. Amanda will share strategies from her work with neurodivergent interpreters, leaving participants with practical tools to answer: What makes a truly effective mentor?
